Greetings!
The Backstory:
I have been a long time ATI fan since the days of RAGE and FIRE. Always pleased and never felt let down by ether ATI or AMD. But recently i have been forced to switch to UBUNTU 14.04 as my operating system in my PCs. I am beginning to really enjoy LINUX (provided i don't experiment too much and totally trash the OS). However, getting ATI support for my HD4670 has been a nightmare! ATI has decided for financial reasons, to not fully support pre HD 5000 cards for the newer Linux and Xorg kernels. The Linux open source driver works OK but due to missing components some games just will not open. SO,, i have purchased an NVIDIA card.
The Decision:
Weighing certain factors like, System Power + Budget + Graphics wants vs needs, I worked out that the EVGA GTX 750sc was the card that had the best balance of all three requirements. SO i purchased one from Newegg.
The Question:
Should i use the built in proprietary driver installer that Ubuntu Provides or should i try to manually install the latest downloaded Nvidia drivers?
