I apologize if this has been asked before and I did find some related posts but none of them got me a solution.
So I built a new desktop and my wifi on 14.04 seems to be really inconsistent (keeps getting disconnected) and slow. I'm dual booting my machine and I consistently get 1/8th of the speed I get on windows.
My network adapter is TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 (Amazon link)
The machine detects the hardware (bolded in last line):
