[xubuntu] Partition Misalignment by 1024 bytes topic

Hello,

My Disk Utility says that my extended partition is misaligned by 1024 bytes. I have in /dev/sda2 999gb with /dev/sda5/ (ext4, 35 gb) and /dev/sda6/ (ext4, 964 gb) inside it. With a swap partition at the end, /dev/sda1.

I had a motherboard death on this thing and bought a new motherboard after several months. I never had this message before and am not sure when it appeared after the MOBO replacement. Now, what I find really odd, is that now my supposed SWAP partition (/dev/sda1) is bootable?! What the heck is with that.

If some one can tell me how to neatly post the output of the boot info script I will do so. It was a mess when I just tried it.

I just cannot afford to reformat the drive and don't have the time to back up all the data on it in a way that wouldn't result in the same error (cloning the drive). I am wrapping up a PhD and there is no way in hell I am going to bother with this unless I absolutely have to, but I am worried about it. Should I be?

Thanks,

AlphaA
