[ubuntu] Kernel Headers 3.10.18 not found in VMware Kernel Module Updater - Ubuntu 14.10 topic

I had Ubuntu 14.10 and VMware Player 7.0.0 installed on my Acer Chromebook 11. Wwhen I open VMware, I get the exact same error message as mentioned this thread - "What is the path to the kernel headers so I can install vmware?", except it is "Kernel Headers 3.10.18", not "2.6.38-8-generic". I tried every suggestion in that thread, but to no avail. Can someone please help me?
Your suggestion is much appreciated! Thank you so much!

[xubuntu] Operating System not Found topic

Hi
I've Xbuntu installed on a 128GB SSD that boots and runs without issue on my desktop. (Even on its own with all other drives disconnected)
I want to now use it in my laptop (preferably) without reinstalling the OS. I have set SATA mode to ACHI in the BIOS and although the PC sees the disk, I receive a " Operating System not Found" error during boot.
Below is the output of my boot-repair dump. I have run the repair several times but it has unfortunately not (yet) been successful in resolving the issue. There is / was no dual booting of any kind going on. Any suggestions very much appreciated, thanks.

[SOLVED] Have I found a Bash bug? topic

I tried to look at some files on my USB-flashdrive, which is/was labeled Bill'sUSB.

When I tried to cd into it, I arrived at a command prompt instead of directory. The drive was mounted at /media/Bill'sUSB and, if I can attach a screenshot, you'll see that trying to get a directory listing with cd, results in a bash command-prompt?

Is this a bug, do you think, or just the result of a broken rule in volume naming? Should I report it to gnome-terminal or bash?

thanks...

Zoneminder, URL not found topic

After install, my browser inquiry http://localhost/zm responds with URL not found. Files for zoneminder located in User/share.. but Apache can't find them? Do I need to provide path?

[kubuntu] Canon Pixma MG4250 not found by sane over wifi topic

Canon Pixma MG4250 is not found by sane over wifi. The scanner is found however by ScanGearMP, a package by canon, and can be used.

I run kubuntu 14.04 LTS. I downloaded and installed both

Quote:

MG4200 series ScanGear MP Ver. 2.00 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)

and

Quote:

MG4200 series IJ Printer Driver Ver. 3.80 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)

My settings so far:

The location of the scanner is mentioned in pixma.conf:

Code:

bjnp://192.168.1.44

The location of the scanner is mentioned in net.conf:

Code:

localhost
192.168.1.44

pixma and net are mentioned in dll.conf:

Code:

pixma
net

in etc/services I have

Code:

sane-port    6566/tcp    sane saned    # SANE network scanner daemon

When I run

Code:

nmap -sL 192.168.1.*

the scanner/printer doesn't show up

What am I missing or doing wrong? As mentioned above, the scanner works flawlessly using the canon ScanGearMP, but not in SANE
