Install OpenGL on Ubuntu Server Edition (14.4) topic

Hello, I have installed Ubuntu Server Edition 14.4. When I run the command "glxinfo" I get the output "Error: unable to open display". So I was wondering how can I install OpenGL on my system?

What I am trying to do is run Kodi on Ubuntu Server Edition 14.4. I did install and configure Kodi but when I try to run Kodi I get the error message

Error: unable to open display
Kodi needs hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering.
Install an appropriate graphics driver.

[ubuntu] Forcing openGL 3.3 topic

Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz × 4

Graphics: Intel® Ironlake Mobile x86/MMX/SSE2

Would like to enable openGL 3.3

Have seen on this page

https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloa...-stack-release

says openGL 3.3 support, oficially from Intel, so seems to be possible.

Trying to run new release of Grim Fandango Remastered.

Thanks for any suggestions :)

OpenGL GLX Lubuntu Is using direct rendering but Steam says it is not. topic

Freshly installed 14.10 Lubuntu yesterday, Steam installed no problem, after logging in today and installing a game, I found it wouldn't launch. Every time I open Steam, I get the message that it is not using direct rendering, however after following this: https://allaboutmynonexistedworld.wo...nstall-opengl/ specifically running the "glxinfo |grep direct" code, it comes up saying "Direct Rendering: yes." The games now make an attempt to launch but simply crash/don't display. I've recently checked the forums and added the Xorg-enders PPA, but most of this hasn't led anywhere. any help? Computer is HP envy M6, with a Radeon 8650G graphics card. Thanks in advance.

[ubuntu] Minecraft/Steam Games and OpenGL? topic

I just installed Ubuntu on my Acer Chromebook and have downloaded Steam and the Minecraft.jar file. I have tried to open a steam game and was warned about OpenGL and came across the same issue in Minecraft. I made it past the loading screen and clicked play when the launcher crashed. I've read through a few topics and found that NullPointerException: null means I don't have the proper OpenGL. I have yet to install one and I'm a bit lost as to where to start. Can OpenGL be installed from the Ubuntu Store?
Thanks!
