Wireless Used to Install Server 14.04 Now Wireless Connects but no Internet topic

I have an old laptop that I wanted to take with me to my Linux Classes to test some of the stuff on real equipment. I didn't have a patch cable so I used my wireless card to connect to my wireless network. I chose OpenSSH, LAMP, MAIL, SAMBA. As soon as I logged into the command line I downloaded the Ubuntu-desktop package. Once into the desktop the wireless would connect, but there was no internet, yet it was working fine before the extras were put in.

My laptop is an HP Pavilion G7-1328DX. Its about 3 1/2 years old.

I would like to update this post to mention that last night my Ethernet card was working. Now when I connect, it doesn't show up anymore. I have no idea what's going. I tested all of this in a virtual machine and it was fine until I tried installing it on an actual machine.
