I am sorry if this is already asked somewhere, but I haven't seen it anywhere. I have a dualboot Ubuntu installed with Windows 8.1. Sometimes when I get on Ubuntu, I have no internet and there is a wifi icon on the top right doing an animation which looks like it is searching for wireless internet. The thing is this is a stationary PC and it can't connect to any wifi. It simply doesn't have the hardware to support that. So far it seems that for some strange reason the internet works again if I boot Windows first, restart the computer, and then boot Ubuntu. Thanks in advance!

[xubuntu] Thunar customized action with sudo doesn't work topic
Hi all,
I love thunar's customized actions and I think it's very usefull.
My problem is I'm unable to make any action using sudo. I want to add to the folders a customized action called "Open as administrator", it is, a customized action with "sudo thunar %f", but it does just nothing. If I write "thunar %f" it works but of course it's unusefull at all since the important is opening with sudo.
I mean, system simply ignore or at least apparently ignore the sudo when I would like it to request the admin password and then opening as root. I've read many many how-to's over the internet using this "sudo thunar %f" as example for customized actions but doesn't work for me.
Any help?
Regards and thanks in advance

Windows doesn't detect HD, Ubuntu does topic
Hi,
I've got a single HD in my laptop with multiple partitions:
/dev/sda1 = ext4
/dev/sda3 = ntfs
/dev/sda5 = swap
Now Ubuntu (and gparted etc) detect this HD fine (and Ubuntu is installed on the ext4). But Windows doesn't even boot. I tried using a DVD to install Windows, but the Win Installer doesn't detect the HDD either, it just says there are no HDDs. So it's not a hardware issue, but I'm not sure what's going on here. Any one got any insight?

[server] dhclient supersede-domain-name-servers doesn't recognize IPv6 addresses topic
I recently replaced my old 8.04 firewall box with a new one running 14.04 server.
The box provides DNS for my home network, so I have dhclient configured to supersede the DNS servers to use its own instead of the ISP's.
Last night I did updates, and there was a kernel update so I rebooted afterward. Then today I discovered my DNS wasn't working right--I couldn't resolve any of my internal DNS names while logged into the server. After doing some digging, I found that /etc/resolv.conf had the ISP DNS servers instead of the ones I included in my dhclient.conf. When I checked the syslog from last night's reboot, I found this:
My dhclient.conf has this in it, to override my DNS servers to be my own, and I provided both IPv6 and IPv4 addresses. Apparently dhclient doesn't recognize the IPv6 address:
According to this: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugr...cgi?bug=537159
IPv6 support was added in 4.0. I'm running isc-dhclient-4.2.4 so it should recognize an IPv6 address in a prepend or supersede line, right? Apparently it doesn't.
Any suggestions? I temporarily "fixed" the issue by editing /etc/resolv.conf by hand, and removing the IPv6 address from the dhclient.conf. But it would be nice to be able to specify both the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses in the supersede line.
